Description

Silver oak (Grevillea robusta) is a fast-growing evergreen tree that can grow up to 35 meters tall with a straight, cylindrical trunk. It is native to Australia but has been widely cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions, including India. The tree has a symmetrical, conical crown with bright green, fern-like leaves that are 15-30 cm long. The leaves have a soft texture and sway in the breeze, creating a pleasant rustling sound. The tree produces a profusion of yellow or orange flowers in the spring that attract pollinators like bees and birds. The flowers are followed by woody, cylindrical fruits that are about 15-25 cm long and contain numerous seeds. The wood of the silver oak is strong, durable, and resistant to pests and is used for making furniture, flooring, and other construction materials.
